Land Based Activities

I.C.Y. Active offers a wide range of land based adventures for young and old:

Mountain Walking

We are qualified and experienced Mountain Leaders (Summer) & are AALS licensed to deliver mountain based activities in summer conditions. Whether it is the peace and solitude of the Elenydd wilderness or mountain walking in Snowdonia, we have the knowledge and skills to guide you.

Rock climbing and abseiling

We have an experienced team of instructors that can organise a safe and exciting day of rock climbing or abseiling for your group. We are available to run indoor climbing wall sessions or outdoor climbing and abseiling sessions. So whether it’s a kids party at one of our local leisure centres in Ceredigion or a day out to Tremadoc for some traditional rock climbing and a taste of adventure, we can supply the knowledge and training to keep you safe.

Bushcraft and survival

We run survival and Outdoor Living courses specifically designed for young people. Choose from a 24 or 48 hour camp at our woodland sites in rural Mid Wales. You will learn a variety of essential skills for surviving and living in the outdoors.
On our 24 hour camp you will learn the basics of…

  • Developing a survival plan
  • Shelter building
  • Fire Lighting and cooking (on an open fire)
  • Water collection & purification

Our 48 hour camp teaches you the same skills but the extra time allows you to develop them further. In addition we will touch upon wild food collection, preparation and cooking.
For parents, we can organise more luxurious accommodation in some of our excellent local B&B’s or Hotels.

Want to learn to camp in the wilderness?
Got a group who fancy a wilderness camping weekend?
Our wild camps are a wonderful way to get away from it all. With some of the best stargazing opportunities in Britain on our doorstep, no lights, except the moon and the stars are visible from our specially selected wild camp sites, weather depending.
Whether you’re a youth group taking your first steps into the outdoors or a Hen/Stag group wanting something totally different. We’ve got the right instructor and site for you.

A great skill building and confidence boosting activity, we can teach you the art and science of map and compass.
Navigation training can be offered at all levels, from simple direction finding to micro navigation in wilderness environments. We have created Orienteering courses for Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Youth projects, successfully delivering programmes at Key Stage 1 & 2 for Primary Schools, which included a full days activity at a National Trust site for 150 pupils. One off confidence building sessions can also be offered along with longer term programmes designed to meet the needs of the National Curriculum for Primary and Secondary Schools.
We have a lot of experience in the design of navigation and orienteering challenges, including checking sites for suitability, laying out courses, designing route maps and providing risk assessments. Using the latest Spot Gen3 GPS trackers, we can follow our teams and provide unique feedback on their success’.
